  • A slice of sunny Spanish romance, full of vim and vigour.
    Siobhan Murphy, THE STAGE
A celebration of the pleasure of classical dance. There’s great company spirit on stage. There’s something so winning about it: the sheer sunniness, the fun and energy of the large ensemble and the showcase it offers for dazzling technique.
    Lyndsey Winship, THE GUARDIAN
    Glorious, transporting entertainment.
    Teresa Guerreiro, CULTURE WHISPER
Lots of comedy, lots of romance and lots of technically accomplished dancing. A show that has confidence in its willingness to entertain, first, second and third and delivers that much undervalued proposition.
    Gary Naylor, BROADWAY WORLD
Hugely entertaining. Acosta's sunny dynamism is just what the doctor ordered. The joy that emanates from this production is real.
    Jenny Gilbert, THE ARTS DESK

Ballet in three acts (2013)

Teeming with comedy, wit and an abundance of bravura choreography, Carlos Acosta's exuberant take on one of the most loved 19th-century classical ballets – created for The Royal Ballet a decade ago - brings the Spanish heat and romance of Cervantes' novel to life.

Enlivened by Minkus’ spirited score, the story regales the adventures of the eccentric nobleman Don Quixote and his faithful squire Sancho Panza, as they help to bring a vivacious young couple, Kitri (Mayara Magri) and Basilio (Matthew Ball) together.

Feel the joy of this charming and spirited production, a wonderful showcase for the virtuosity of The Royal Ballet's Principal dancers.

Please note cast change: Matthew Ball replaces the previously billed Cesar Corrales [updated 23 Aug 23]
