Requiem (1874)

Special Presentation! Combining religious grandeur with operatic drama and passion, Giuseppe Verdi’s towering choral masterpiece Messa da Requiem is an exhilarating and compelling exploration of grief and devotion, containing writing that is equally exquisite for both chorus and soloists.

This stirring La Scala performance at Milan’s Cathedral, conducted by maestro Riccardo Chailly and featuring four top-flight soloists, was staged to honour the victims of COVID-19, and to offer a profound message of consolation - a return to life through music.

“Tonight, Milan shows its wounds.” - Monsignor Mario Delpini, Archbishop of Milan.

Please note: Due to social distancing measures, seating for all screenings is limited. We urge patrons to book promptly to avoid disappointment.
